Was late to the party after work yesterday but was able to put a couple slots on the sand. Dropped a few as well.

 

Started north this AM and dropped 1 at the lip. Made a big move south and it was on for the afternoon. Chose to avoid the crowds and picked at them. Dropped a bunch and landed 7 to 35”.

I don't get it. I put in lots of hours today and caught nothing in the popular spot in OC. Guess I didn't move enough. Had a bunker on a snag rig in the wash and watched two bass swim up to it, look at it, then turn around and leave. On another cast the mag darter snagged the top of a bunker. It looked like a backpack on the bunker. In the wash again, I watched a bass follow it, sniff around and then swim off. Threw everything in the bag and no luck. Back at it tomorrow morning.

Probably karma. Snag and drop isn't legal. Secondly, the amount of guys throwing avas and metal w/ teasers in a full day adult bunker blitz and it doesn't compute why your not catching amazes me. Good lord

The scientific reason is that striped bass generally migrate south to warmer waters for the winter.  So when I look at a map down south is south compared to north.

Wait. Aren’t some places pushing legal snag and drop rigs?   
 

I didn’t see it yesterday as I wasn’t there but I’m sure it’s equivalent to a boat trolling through top water bass

During the day the fish can see better. The only bait I see do real good during the day slow are NLBNs and sometimes metal lips on the surface. Outside of that you will do better fast, faster, fastest…… I had to learn this the hard way. Daytime is nothing like night time. I see this from my yak a lot. I’ll get 3-7 fish following my swimmer in 2’ behind and turn away. If I cause an erratic motion or sometimes even lifting the bait out of the water will spur a massive attack.
