I have hundred pack boxes of Mustad 3407 DT’s in sizes 4,6 and 8 that I use for the front hook that I cut off on my articulated flies. They are cheap so I don’t mind sacrificing them. I use a loop of braid, in this case 50 lb Fireline to attach the stinger hook. I really like the Owner No Escape hooks for the stinger hooks since we are required to fish barbless in the salt out here. For an interesting thread on squid flies see "Striped bass squid flies", June 160, 2018, on the Fly Fishing Forum. That being said, they will no doubt catch! Mine are way out of whack having caught a lot of squid while jigging for them at night in the past. With that said, the salmon out here don’t really seem to care much about the proportions.
