Stella vs Saltiga

I’ve had the saltiga 2020 8000h for this last season and it is hands down the nicest reel I’ve ever owned paired it with century surf machine elite 12ft 3/4-4oz rod and I am bombing 160 yard cast with it with 30# braid. When hooking up on fish the pickup speed and sheer power in the gearing allows you to winch or muscle a fish in a way that is almost as good as intercourse haha . If you truly want to enjoy a reel while fishing I urge a purchase for this reel . I also recommend buying the after market round knob I do not like the oversized egg knob for popping any type of controlled top water bait it just feels weird in the hand On revolution. Hope this helps .
ps I’ve never even touched a Stella but I don’t think I’ll ever need too since this reel makes all my dreams come true

I got a 20k saltiga 2020 for jetty n surf fishing, friends call me crazy for using such a big size for the surf but i am happy with my reel. So far no complain, hook up a croc once no problem, end up cutting off the line with the help of some other anglers.

I just wish they made the Saltiga in a 5k.

Same with the makaira in a 6K size. I'd probably buy a 6K makaira and saltiga if they were announced, then immediately sell most every other spinner I own.

Confirmed just now by a contact, 2020 saltiga has identical servicing and support as the exist. Same as the Stella. Unlimited servicing over 5 years and no charge expedited shipping back.

Do they have to go back to Daiwa North America in CA? Or do local shops honor that?

I believe they do? Didn't Saltiga just change the numbering system around on their reels? The new 8000 is equivalent to the old 5000.

20SALTIGA has been changed new model system by full model changeover. The table below is comparison with 15SALTIGA system chart.

I think in a manner of speaking they do - the Bay Jigging series. That series was the precursor to the new body types the 2020 Saltiga spinning reels are sporting...But the rotor is still in the same style as the 2015 Saltiga

Curious about those. My buddy has one, if I have issues with my smaller spinners I'll probably pick up one of those. A 6K 20 saltiga though... Mmmmmmm

I just wish they would release an "official" tool to open the side plate. I know they won't release the mag fluid because they consider it "controlled", whether that's true or not or just Daiwa talking who knows. But with the monocoque body opening the side just to check for potential water intrusion would be a big plus before sending it in for service/guessing. Especially now that it's trickled down to even the BG MQ, opening that up for a good greasing would be nice.

For the canal, I would take the Stella due to their platinum service. Best in the business, until they run out of parts :)

Daiwa may be preferred by some at least initially, but if you had an issue you would want to have a Stella.

I would take issue with that never had a problem with daiwa service department.

I never had either, but I never had them service my reels before :)

I have read enough service issue threads to be worried. Shimano Platinum service is the best. $30 and like new.
