DanTheBassMan
You noodled a dogfish? I could be wrong but isn't noodling when the drunk guy in the muscle shirt sticks his arm in the hole in the bottom of a muddy river so he can get a catfish to swallow it? I am guessing that is not how you caught a dogfish, I'm using a loose interpretation... grabbed him by the tail and just pulled him up. He made a little attempt to nip at me, but he was just so out of it... had to have been if he was so lost. I recently encountered a hypodermic needle washed up with the last new moon tides where I had been standing, fingers crossed I don't step on one. Perhaps the dogfish wasn't so lucky . There was thread recently about needles being a hazard up by the Merrimack, and I'm disgusted to see them turning up a good ways south of there. Serious pullage. unskunk
I think I forgot how to fish artificial stuff over the off-season. I was in the Bass/Danvers River yesterday morning and the fish finder was lit up like a Christmas tree. Unfortunately, all I could manage was one 16-18 inch fish. I switched out lures and retrieve styles and all I could manage were bumps and follows, saw them follow right to the boat and then turn off. The lure that seemed to garner the most interest, and the only fish I landed, was a Hogy soft eel imitation. Tried white, pink and purple soft baits, green mack Al Gag whip-it fish, a yellow and white bucktail, a Sebile soft swimmer in bunker pattern (action on those things is amazing), a mack pattern popper and even threw in an Hayward swimmer in blue mack pattern (I figured it was too big for schoolies but it is new and shiny and I wanted to christen it). Very frustrating morning. Nothing but a small schoolie, a sore shoulder, and near frostbite to show for my efforts. Damn it was cold out there. I hope someone had better luck in the river over the weekend than I did. If you did feel free to PM me whatever lure was actually working. Hopefully I can return the favor soon. BB2525
Few macks jigged up outside the islands. Got caught in the storm yesterday, live lined them around a couple spots. Nothing doing, but good to be out on the boat for the first time this year even though I experienced every weather condition possible in two hours. stalkinthebeaches
Got the chubbiest schoolies I've ever seen last night (ocean side, sandy N shore beach)They were close but I doubt they would've hit the 28" mark.

Sunday was packing up on the river in PI to head home and found a syringe in the weed at the high tide area. Fortunately it was capped, so used a bait bag to scoop it up and got it outta there. It's a shame.
PlumFishing
"High tide area". Not even sure that's a legit term. Anyways, the weed where the high tide was when the storm was on Thursday.
bdowning
A lot of fish lately have had more impressive girth than length. Should maybe start weighing them instead of taping them. -bd Got the chubbiest schoolies I've ever seen last night (ocean side, sandy N shore beach)They were close but I doubt they would've hit the 28" mark. PlumFishing
Got a hit on a Coltsniper in the river but pulled the hook. A fisher woman at the bend caught a 42" on clams about an hour before low tide. Her and her guy didn't have a tape so measured with them. And they said someone else weighed it at about 25. (Wasn't there for the weighing). Headed back now after a few chili dogs at the Comba.

DanTheBassMan
Good luck stay safe Ironically, I was reported as "suspicious activity" tonight at a druggie hotspot and was checked in on by an officer. Everything checked out and I went back to a steady schoolie bite on fly. He also told me that EPO recently seized a load of undersized stripers from a boat in the body of water I was fishing. Thank you law enforcement for maintaining order on land & water! Serious pullage.

I am assuming that you were fishing at night, maybe not ? -bd Pfantum Pfishah

Thank you law enforcement for maintaining order on land & water! I've seen a much greater presence of EPOs in both Mass and NH this year and that's a good thing. My favorite spot is a sketchy place to be even in the daytime, would never go there after dark but I usually have it to myself!
