frankietool
Frankie, Every situation is different. We have no idea how the next incident will go down, but I think you can assume it will. These things will always happen. Crazy people will not go away. You can't plan for it and if you really think a few less rounds will make a huge difference, I think you will be sadly mistaken. This kid attacked a room full of little tiny kids. They never had a chance no matter what. You are absolutely right, this will happen again, no matter how much preparation is done in any manner. If rounds are reduced and there is a difference in the future than it worked, if not then figure out something else. I don't see it a violating a personal freedom if there is a reduction. You still have the right to bear arms and you can still buy as much ammunition you want but with less rounds in the magazine. It is a start. If Republican congressmen are advocating more regulations then you would think a change is imminent.
charloots
I am one of those liberals but don't ever expect an all out ban to happen. People owning guns is not the problem is is the crazies and gun zealots that are the problem. Even some Repubs are giving in to some tighter regulations, this is all for the safety of the nation for reasons I mentioned previously. Right. And if a lunatic gets his hands on a Marlin lever-action after you get all of the scary assault weapons you'll be wanting them, too. You'll just keep moving the goalpost in order to get all guns banned.
Mokes
Right. And if a lunatic gets his hands on a Marlin lever-action after you get all of the scary assault weapons you'll be wanting them, too. You'll just keep moving the goalpost in order to get all guns banned. That's what I see happening here. "The toothless, braindead, *********, geriatric mouthbreathers around here love their "safe space". It is the only place in the world where they feel like winners, the gracious thing to do, would be to let them enjoy their delusional reality." -Numbnuts
Slacker
It is a start. If Republican congressmen are advocating more regulations then you would think a change is imminent. This is not a republican/democrat issue. One of the NRA's highest rated politicians is a democrat... Harry Reid. Chris Christie is a pretty high profile Republican and he is pretty anti-gun or at least not in favor of loosening any of NJ's gun purchase/possession laws (which are about the toughest of any state in the country). Gun control is more of an urban/rural issue.
Gotcow?
That's what I see happening here. It's called progressive creep.

Robert Williams
Gun control is more of an urban/rural issue. Explain. I get what he meant. Urban areas favor gun control and rural areas reject gun control. I'm glad I moved out of CT. Here in Ohio, we're not interested in some nitwit making a national attempt to grab our guns. In this part of the state, we don't have all the inner city problems. We have coyote problems.
frankietool
Right. And if a lunatic gets his hands on a Marlin lever-action after you get all of the scary assault weapons you'll be wanting them, too. You'll just keep moving the goalpost in order to get all guns banned. And that is what is wrong with the gun nuts. A perfect example.

charloots
And that is what is wrong with the gun nuts. A perfect example. Then lay it all out, here and now. What exactly would you do...what will make you feel safe?

Yes, what's wrong with "gun nuts" is that they know the game and aren't buying it. It would be so much easier if they were stupid.
Tim704
And that is what is wrong with the gun nuts. A perfect example. That is what continues to happen, we have existing "assault weapon" bans in NY,NJ, CT, MA, that limit mag capacity and cosmetic features and it didnt stop a criminal from a horrific act. If all mags over ten rounds were banned and confiscated nation wide law abiding citizenswould not have them and criminals would just smuggle from over seas like drugs. Bloomburg himself constantly illustrates how inneffective bans are when he complains that NYC has tough gun laws but criminals just ignore the law and find a source out of the jurisdiction. Criminals don't follow the law, so we get called nuts or worse and are expected to just give up our rights and be blamed for the acts of criminals. RegDunlop
I went to the NRA site to see if there was a message of sorrow and sadness for the Sandy Hook shooting, But couldn’t find anything So I said to myself “well, don’t paint them with a broad brush. After all, THEY didn’t actually shoot the guns so why should I expect them to be sorry”? With that said, I decided to see if they just had ANY mention of this ANYWHERE on their website. I came up empty. Isn’t that odd? I wonder why they wouldn’t even ACKNOWLEDGE it? Can any gun advocates or NRA members on here post a link to the NRA’s news page detailing this event? Maybe I’m just bad at looking things up . Some of Gits are "not good with the computer". oh my god!! the nerve!! NRA didnt APOLOGIZE for a lunatic?!! DM, you are off your rocker if you think the NRA owes anybody an apology for the actions of an evuil savage!!! People like you have CONVINCED me its' time to join the NRA and SAF. if we're looking for a shark we're not gonna find him on the land
dreadK
I admit I haven't been to the range in a couple of years...but last time I was there, I was enjoying myself, sighting in my .54 cal. Harken’s...then some nut jobs wearing bad ass shades and matching jackets showed up shooting semi-automatic versions of the AK. Every time that big ol' ~.308 casing hit my table with a thud inches from my black power (I'm not a perpetrator like you in-line guys) I said “guys, were about to have an issue here”…they were too nervous or weird to respond at first…the next time happened, I called one over, explained…showed him A+B=no you or me. They adjusted and so did I. That left a bad taste in my mouth about today’s sportsmen, just like all these freakn’ compounds w/releases/80% let-off, sights…. I hope the Gov’ment bans all these assault rifles or at least makes them look more goofy (make the guns force you to remove the magazine after 3 shots…don’t know how to do that, but do it). Then going to the range I can meet NORMAL gun enthusiast. I grew up with guns and around gun enthusiast….Now all this gun culture is just a political reflection of pimping. Now it’s not about the shooting, it’s about the badge of Wingnutdom. Conservatives are all about “accountability”…I’m still waiting….all I’m hearing is “whining”.
