I know this has been brought up before, but thought I would bring it back. How many guys out there have been successful at quitting dip? I have been dipping for about 18 years (on and off) and feel like it is a part of my life that I just can't kick. I have quit on a few occasions, but always seem to be drawn back to the tin.

I have set times in my head on numerous occasions, but always seem to come up with an excuse or set another time in the future. For those who have been successful, please share how you started and made it through. Thanks!

I wish I could add my self to the list of those that quit. Just recently had about 3 weeks. thought I was done for a good. bought one on tuesday. I'll try again tomorrow. Someone, I think Branford Jeff posted a couple of pictures of people with mouth cancer that burned an image in my brain, and was quite convincing,

been a couple years for me, almost broke down and got a tin last weekend, springtime is the hardest with fishing and baseball. Withdrawls are insane, I drank alot of water, chewed gum, ate pretzels & fruit rollups and went for walks.

I started dipping when i was 21. I tried quitting once when I was around 32. Couldn't make it, thought it was a part of my life too. When we were expecting our first child (I was 35), I finally decided I was going to quit for good. I'm almost 48 now and have kicked it for almost 13 years. Now I look back and ask my self what the hell was I thinking. Quitting was obviously one of the best things I've ever done. If I can do it, so can you. I'm pulling for you and wishing you the best. You'll be so glad you did.

Wow salter that was very touching, thank you. About a year back I quit for quite some time, then the pressures of school and college set it, the SAT's, and all that other stuff. Couldn't handle the stress and started up again. I definitely plan on trying to quit. It is disgusting, I will be the first to admit that, and girls hate it, which is a good enough reason for me.

Thanks man. That helps. I said the same thing when my son was born. He'll be three next month, and I'm still dipping. I know I've got to stop, it's just the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

I dipped for 22 years....I loved it, I had a dip in my mouth from after breakfast untill bedtime. Most of the time I didn't even spit, just swallow it, cuz I loved the taste. I got a sore throat that wouldn't go away and it scared the living %#*@ outta mecwm31.gif . I quit. It wasn't easy, It takes tremendous amounts of will power, temptation SUCKS, you might even act like an A-hole to the people you love because you need it, but quit. And after about 18 years you will not need it anymore! But after 18 years, try a pinch and taste just how NASTY that %#*@ is.

We have enough youth, what we need is a fountain of SMART........
