I’m curious to see if they’ll put out a 4000 to compete with the Stella SW 4000 Yeah, that’s what I’m wondering. I read the Alan Hawk review and I’m sold - I just think the 8000 might be a little large. Some are saying the 8000 is comparable to a standard 5000 or so? Can anyone confirm this? Can anyone confirm this? the 8k is the same size as the old 4500 or a Stella 8k, the rotor is just more compact now because it is metal instead of Zaion and the body is more compact bc of the monocoque so it looks slightly smaller than the last gen. Yep comparable to the 4500/5000 in the old sizing. As mentioned before it is a bit more compact but still weighs about the same so the lineup is missing the 15-16 oz size. Josh from JandH said he’s meeting with Daiwa at the end of the week so we may hear something next week
NewestGuyOnStripersOnline
Awesome, thanks for the picture. So is it safe to say the 8k would be suitable on a general purpose surf rod, maybe like a 9.5’ 1-4oz?

I think a Stella SW 6k will be better suited. Hokahey 1 "Long range" - CTS Vapor Trail 12ft 2-6oz, Shimano Stradic FL 5000, Powerpro Super Slick 8x V2 15lb. I had my 8k on a 9 ft odm dna for a lighter tarpon setup and up to a 12 footer and it performed well for both. the reel is capable of being put on a lot of different rods

I use it on a heavy 11 footer and it's still on the bigger side. Zero chance I'd use it on a 9'5, 1-4oz rod.
