bdowning
Legend? or Mojo? either way it stinks. :shtf: I'm still waiting for my Mojo blank to suddenly snap in mid cast or break in half on a nice fish. I've read some of the horror stories, but so far I've escaped. -bd Pfantum Pfishah

HanoverStriper
I broke mine twice last year both case my fault and paid for both repair. This past weekend, the first guide chipped after the bike fell when I turn to close the car door. This time I am going to a local guy to have it repair. Makes you feel better, my bike with rods tipped over in the Marina Parking lot Sunday. Picked it up and thought it was OK. But when I thew out I see the Tip top was bent and the ceramic ring gone - only metal. So I switch rods - guess what - tip top not bent, but Ceramic ring gone on that as well. Lost both tip top rings - grrrr! 3 miles in and no rods - so I said **** it - I'm fishing my crappiest lures in case of line snap. Fortunately I didn't catch anything - well it was probably fortunate this time - I already fixed one, but have to order the other. I'm glad I took up rod building - I seem to replace guides all the time now. . . .

stryperStalker
Oh no! Is that the new purchase? Yep. At least last year when it happened, there was a fish involved. Well, at least I wasn't there for this one or else you'd probably start to think it had something to do with my bad fishing mojo rubbing off on you. These things always happen in threes, so you can kiss next year's new purchase goodbye, too.
bob_G
Given it's a conventional, and you're using a spininng reel, I wonder if they'll question the warranty? They may say the spine was on the opposite side, and it compromised the strength of the blank? I doubt it given it St Croix. But just be prepared in case they ask. Just a though. This is exactly why I asked about the set up. Are these blanks laid up with a carbon strip on one side? If so, then the next one will surely fail as well. Carbon works in tension, not in compression. Just spoke with St. Croix. They don't have them in stock until June 8th. Awesome. So I'm looking at 4 weeks for replacement. Anyone want to buy a new 9' Legend? I don't exactly feel very confident in them any more. F TOMBO

FoliFish
Probably a nick in the blank under the shrink wrap. Most likely happened during transportation, or you bumped it on a rock not realizing how much damage you actually did. I hope St Croix is understanding, but I wouldn't blame them if they didn't cover it.....most likely user error/mishandling. Good luck HS.

I don't exactly feel very confident in them any more. I am feeling the same, but now I have to start the research/test casting other brand that has the same feel (action and casting) as the legend because I truly enjoy the 3/4 to 4oz legend for plugging and casting ability. It's just to bad that they are not as robust as others. Will have to check out the Century 1327 for sure.
