RIRockhound
Here is the part I do not understand. Why keep the fish? Aparently you guys are not starving, you look healthy to me, and have money for a charter boat. Why dont you catch and release? So you can brag and show off 1 or 2 fish? This and among other reasons is why the fisheries are the way they are today, mans vanaty and greed. In pretty close to 30 years of fishing I have never keeped 1 striper, not one. A$$hats like this is why I stay away more and more... while I am an advocate for 1@36", them is the rules... glad you had a good time. In me the scientist, Always stuck on, always trying this. crabbypatty
Thanks guys for the backup! We did have a great time and yes the striper was very tasty. i just cant decide whick way I like it more, blackened in the cast iron skillet or seasoned and wrapped in prochutto with a tomato and garlic salsa, and don't forget francaise with capers . The frances fleet has some great guys working their boats and they try and put you on the fish, it just doesn't allways work. I have had some good trips and some bad ones ( 18' swells and a 30 kt ne wind last fall was the worst out at cox's ). The only reason we go on the head boats is sometimes there are quite a few of us and we can't all go out on my friend's 25" cc. Good times, good fishing and good eating are some of the finest things in life! Choggie
Sounds like a good time, and as long as you abide by the laws and practice good sportmanship and conservation, no harm no foul. FWIW, I don't keep any fish I catch ever. Just their filets.

crabbypatty
This might be one of the most pompous statements I've read on this website. I couldn't of said it better myself! For a minuite i thought maybe I was out of line for posting pics of the fish we caught......they are a little graphic. Maybe I would be a liitle pompus if i fished for 30 years and never caught a keeper. Just for the record i killed about 3 dozen american eels that nite too!!! put that in your tree hugging, PETA pipe and smoke it! joerosa1
I was out on the FF and Seven B's once or twice a week in June/July some of the best boat fishing I have every seen. Some nights over 4-5 keepers (caught, not kept), no shorts and not a lot of blues. Some nights the boats limited. I do wish boats didn't always gaff keeper bass or provided a net choice so as to give a better/healthier release option. I can only go on Wednesday/Thursday nights and both boats do not have trips those nights...miss it. Looks like you guys had a great night, now enjoy the good eats!
