Jonny
Jabster -- I tied another one of those pike flies that are all head and took photos during the process, per your request. Pretty easy fly, all told. This one is 13" plus. Slide large cone onto tube and trap some bucktail in a noose of thread in front of the cone Spread bucktail around around cone to flare it out Add flash and saddles (dark on top/light on bottom) around the bucktail, and then some peacock herl on top Tie in fox fur top and bottom, facing forward, and leave butts of fox to help flare the material when it's reversed; preen hair back, pull thread forward, and trap hair and wing materials with a clip or some wire Alternating between top and bottom, attach two or three sets of Kinky Fiber in V-ties (Kinky Muddler style), but for the last set, tie in both top and bottom before reversing Pull thread forward and tie off, and then use Soft Head or similar to push back the front collar, and trim Kinky Fiber to the lines of the Soft Head Unclip the wing material, and it will spring outward to the edges of the Kinky Fiber head; complete trimming and glue on eyes View from the inside -- the cone keeps all the materials flared out for volume and to avoid fouling the hook

jabster
I appreciate that a lot! I'll take a few points from that to my own tubes if you don't mind? Again, a SBS like that is greatly appreciated!

belford perry
Jonny beautiful fleyes! Question, I noticed the tube had some type of metallic dust on it. Is that there to aid in keeping material in place and did you put it there or it came like that? Thanks, Perry
Jonny
Beford -- Some of the ProSportfisher tubes come with sparkle glitter built in, and I just happened to be using one of them. For the most part, on my flies the tube isn't very visible, but for some patterns, people like the tube and its colors/flash to show through.
