superstriper
Let's not overexaggerate here...he only filed for bankruptcy protection over and over and over again. I wonder what The Donald would say about a business leader that needs to file for bankruptcy three times? Qualified to lead our nation? Somehow this blowhard needs to feel some consequences for running his mouth? Boycott his properties? Anything to shut him up...PLEASE GOP find a candidate that actually moves the conversation forward... actually you are not including trump chicago or cabo and I could throw in more too lol he screwed tons of small business owners by doing so
midwestexile
What was Trump's GPA? What was Obama's? Are these answers known to you? Pertinent information needed before dismissing Obama's 'Color', or Trump Daddy's 'Millions' in their 'Scholarly Endeavors', don't you think?????? The world is full of poor A students and rich C students. I keep writing about this grade issue, because of all the things one can be concerned about knowing someone's college GPA, or law school GPA is among the most meaningless. Employers (or voters) really want to see your track record at work before they take you on; if you have no track record, they look a pretend work like internships and volunteering; if all you have is your potential and no experience, they look grades but grades only show that someone can actually attend class and follow the rules and that's all it proves. My job is as a college registrar, and as such one of my main responsibilities is compliance with FERPA (Federal Educational Right to Privacy Act, otherwise known as the Buckley Amendment, authored by William F. Buckley). In a nutshell the primary reason people invoke the absolute privacy restrictions available to them through FERPA is to keep things secret. Duh. The important question is why? Some people fear identity theft. All academic and disciplinary records are in one FERPA bucket at many schools, so if there is any reason to keep ANY part secret then it ALL becomes secret. Some people fear that information will be misused or misunderstood even if it made sense at the time, like a dorm infraction for alcohol in a room with under aged students. Consider as an example Obama's grades -- there are very logical reasons a candidate would just as soon not have grades available for opposition researchers. No matter what those grades were they could be twisted. Darned if you do and darned if you don't, as far as grades go. For example, if he did better at Occidental than he did at Columbia would one conclude that a) he moved from a less rigorous school to a more rigorous school [Democrats], or b) he was over his head at a "real" school [Republicans]? Conversely, if he did better at Columbia, was that because he was taking courses he liked in his major (Democrats) or because he was in a bastion of liberal higher education benefiting from affirmative action (Republicans)? If he did not get straight A grades, did that mean he was stupid or lazy? If he got straight A grades, did that mean he was too smart to relate to ordinary people? Ask Adlai Stevenson whether being seen as an egghead is an asset in running for president. In the case of law school grades, the misinterpretation issue is similar. Law schools go out of their way to "spread out" the grades of students so that everyone does not end up "tied for first". They really care about grade inflation. At law schools I have known exams in courses are graded "blind" so that there is objective ranking among students. If you consider what it takes to be admitted to Harvard Law then making small distinctions among students means little (thousands of applicants for about 500 seats), but it is the way the game is played so as to motivate students. Being in the top 10% of grades of a law school class [Harvard Law seems to make everyone in the top 10% either summa *** laude or magna *** laude] then would be the top 10% whether he got a C- average or an A- average because the grading was in some sense on an arbitrary scale. So when I read a conservative blogger saying "being in the top 10% does not prove he is smart because his average could have been a C" I realize instead that Magna *** Laude really means is that he got better grades in courses than 90% of the other law students, whatever his GPA was. An A or a C at Harvard Law also cannot be compared to an A or a C at Columbia, Occidental, or any other college, as far as ability goes. lichum
He just got clowned even more after the press release I think The Donald is at the point where he only hurts the Conservative cause; he doesn't help it. It's well past time for him to shut the muck up. The Donald, he feels good, he feels strong, he feels confident. He ain't shutting up. Trump-Palin 2012 or Palin-Trump 2012. Go team, go. More fun than I should ever be allowed to have. What candidate could better burlesque presidential politics than Trump, the American vulgarian? We want more entertainment don't we? Sure we do. I can't wait for the broadcast of oral arguments before the SCOTUS. Can you? GIVE US MORE GIVE US MORE GIVE US MORE IT'S WHAT WE NEED "Who is John Galt?" Who? You? plugmeister
It's easy to see why some of you are so disappointed with the 2+ years of the Obama administration's performance. After all, they are following the 8 years of administrative brilliance and economic magic of the Dumbya crew. That is not surprising in view of Dumbya's National Honor Society membership in high school, 1550 SATs, Dean's List 3.9 GPA at Yale and his Summa *** Laude graduation. Oh, and some of you are right. Palin/Trump is a dream ticket. For the Democrats. And everyone around the world who hates the USA. The "Trumpet" is an arrogant buffoon. He is an embarrassment to the USA and his party. He can't embarrass himself any more because his entire life has done that already. But heck, he could give expert testimony on bankruptcy and divorce law reform. Is it any better with Barry than it was with Bush. I can't see much difference, the only way you can tell them apart is by color. Does the world respect Barry? BrianBM
Nip - ever visit Harvard?? Familiar with their affirmative action policies?? They WILL put you on the board and of the Review simply based on skin color. I doubt it. Law Review positions are worth money. They're the major academic distinction that law schools offer, better than Moot Court or debating honors or whatever other second-tier distinctions a particular school may offer. You compete for admission (I didn't qualify, I must admit, at Hofstra) and it's noted at the top of your resume when you look for a job. Editing is better yet, and the elbows do come out for editorial slots. The notion that he wound up on the Law Review as editor because he's black ... well, that's a lot of money that was given away to him. Law school is a bit competitive, lawyers tend to be assertive (unlike my own shy, blushing self) and we don't mind money at all. Color me very skeptical that his editorship was an affirmative action award.

dreadK
Older America is very much still a racist America. The bozo Trump has openly questioned the ability of any black American, including the President of the United States, to get into a good school. He says he's going to spend good money to investigate becuase it's "a legitmate question to ask"...Really? it's natural an not racist to ASSUME this guy wasn't qualified? He's basically telling white America..."something wrong was done here"..."this guy wasn't qualified"..."anytime a black gets into Harvard, you have to question"....Imagine the accomplishments Obama achieved at Harvard, imagine the clarity of mind he has shown in develoing his analysis of issues...and yet this dumb rednecked snake oil salesman feels qualified to cast doubt on those achievements...and he gets pull among many of these older Americans....if that isn't white racism, I don't know what it is. Republicans should be ashame...they are a one trick pony...it's always the Race...the White Race card with them...it's all about promoting fear of blacks...what a losing strategy...there own kids aren't that backward or dumb...20 years from now...half this problem will be buried...literally. For full discloser, the Clintons tried the same thing in the 08 primaries...remember H.
