Hi, guys.

just recently got a new Lowrance Elite 5 fishfinder, transducer installed to the transom of my boat.

The problem is that the picture, that I see is not what I expect to see there. Strange lines, that does not disappear if i stop the boat and engine.

I read somewhere that that might be from other electronics on board, but I run none and still same picture. What can that be ?

Thanks !

It's likely poor install. You can clean it up with adjustments.

Is your finder wired into boat wiring. You should hard wire it to battery. Is the transducer cord wrapped up in ball. You should get a hub to wrap cord on.

Its wired into the boat wiring. Will try to connect directly to the battery, hope that will help. What kind of hub do I need for the transducer cord ?

Thanks.

I think your unit may have a defect. The sensativity is not gonna get the lines off you map screen. Try putting a dab of dialectic grease on the pins at the connector looks like a loose fit or something there

thanks. Will try that as well.

What about deeper water? Head out to over 10'. Set all the factory settings to default. Set "fishing mode" to general use. Select frequency to 200 kHz, and toggle through theses settings and see what changes you see. 200 gives you the clearest picture in shallow water. If you are shooting through the hull, take transducer out and put it steady in the water.

Anything that doesn't produce static plastic, wood. Just wrap to excess wire around. The reason for static is the wire wrapped together makes a coil that increases. Wrap wire in something that doesn't conduct electricity.

will have to wait till the weekend to try that. But its seems more like a interference from something, than a setting in a fishfinder. i tried to reset all settings to factory defaults - same story.

I agree with Riddler.  You cannot judge how the unit is reading, by what it is doing in 4-5' of water.  Move out deeper, make sure you are in 200kHz, and adjust from there.  The sensitivity is also called gain on some units, I cannot remember what the term used in the Lowrance menus is.

I would also take a look at your transducer set up.  Is it below the hull and on the clean side of the prop?

Going to try that this weekend, if weather permits.

transducer is below the hull and on the clean side of the prop.
