wormvine
Hello Mates, I have a question regarding the Penn Clash 3000 and 4000. It appears to me, looking at the specs of these 2 reels that they may share the same reel body and that only the spool is different for line capacity. Can anyone confirm or refute this? Also, If this is true, Are the spools interchangeable between 3000 and 4000? I appreciate the input and Thanks in advance, Adam
avet4life
Adam, From the schematic, it list many part for 3k and 4k,,, not sharing the 3k part, example the bail, body, etc, so I am not sure that is a 3k body with a 4K spool would work or not. wormvine
Hey Avet4life, That is interesting. After reading your post I went over to "Some other place" and looked at their parts lists and compared. They do share similar parts like the "98-SSV3500 Clutch Sleeve Assembly" and the same drag washers. Specs list their drag pressure at 15lbs each and their weight difference is .5 oz. I'll keep researching and hopefully others can share their input. Thanks, Adam Edited December 2, 2015 by wormvine
Beastly Backlash
If you look at the schematics you will notice that the body, rotor, and main shaft are different. The main gear, pinion, and everything else, for the most part, is the same.
Beastly Backlash
With the rotor on the 3000 being smaller, I doubt a 4000 spool would fit.
FlukeOff
You should post this in the Penn forum. Tony will reply quickly with the correct answer. Cheers! This ground is not the rock I thought it to be.....
wormvine
You should post this in the Penn forum. Tony will reply quickly with the correct answer. Cheers! That sounds like a good idea but I can't find a specific Penn forum. I only see the Fishing Industry Insiders forum and I cannot post there. I'll keep looking. It's been a long day and I may just be going full doofus. Edited December 2, 2015 by wormvine

mackerel hunter
I found this old post about using a Clash 3000 spool on a 4000. Also a Penn posting which said they use different rotors so it won't work. I just put a 3000 Penn Clash spool on my 4000 Clash and it fits and seems to operate ok. Can anyone else weigh in on this. It will fit but the line lay would most likely be bad. tony
