Krispy
That is awesome idea! I'm going to do that, thanks tie a rope to the truck side end and attach with a clip to your truck. When drive out, you will pull the board out of the sand as they can get dug in pretty good.
PastorJimmy
Back when I was a kid, we fished out of a 65 Pontiac Catalina. My dad would bolt on slick snow grips when we got to the beach and on the sand we'd go! When we'd get stuck, he'd jack us up with a bumper jack and put 2x8's under the back tires and drive off. It was my job to grab the 2x8's, run up behind the car and throw them in the trunk, and then jump in the car while it was moving. Makes me smile now. Hated it then! Charleston
An enterprising, handy, and cheap guy(me) is thinking of drilling a hole through each end some cut off 2 X 2s, and roping them together, kind of like a step ladder with the rungs close together. 20 foot of rope, and 40 or so cut off boards should get you two tracks 5 feet long for short money. It only has to work once.... Cut up pieces of garden hose to put on the rope between the 2 X 2's. Bingo! I am old but I'm slow.
hp609
Google exhaust recovery bag. I've seen them for jeeps but maybe they are universal. Also, I guess it wouldn't be bad to have a solid front and rear recovery point incase a Good Samaritan comes by with a strap or winch.

This is what I can't stand about newer cars It's either they have a little screw on tow loop that you have to go digging under a the spare tire in a loaded trunk to find or they have no tow hook at all I carry a multi-cluster hook for frames as well as a large J-hook for control arms, but when you're up to your bumper in sand or snow, the last thing I wanna do is go digging to get your arse out I've even seen a few new Jeeps without proper recovery points
hp609
I believe its essential to have recovery points. I have front/rear drings, hitch, and a winch. I go offroading a lot so i need them but if I'm going for a cruise on the beach and I see someone stuck or buried up to their frame with no points, I don't want to be there all night helping him get out. Only time I had to help someone was in a suv where they came over the ramp and hit a good soft spot and got stuck. I told him what to do and dug his tires out a little and he was on his way. Looks like you have yourself covered

Those bags are perfect but a little expensive, hitting around $300, probably for shipping as most seem to be manufactured in Australia. Found this online, they made it out of a boat / dock fender thing. They used compress air but I'm thinking I could connect it to my tire pump and just wait awhile. Eisey
Exhaust Bags.......................I could never keep the funnel attachment on the end of the hose connected to the exhaust. After a minute or two it is too hot to handle. bob eisey,LIBBA 1002, MSA
jcopen
many many years ago we had to take a class of sorts on driving the beach. The instructor started lecturing on getting stuck and (no BS) what he siad is the first thibng you do when you get stuck is turn off the ignition, get out of the car and have a cigarette. Really what he was saying is calm down and think before you do anything because dug in deep is usually the result of panic. So, like one of you said above... you will almost never get stuck if you just don't apply the horses when its apparent that you are not moving forward. Just stop. Rest. think and pull out the shovel. I've seen the carpets and floor mats but more often than not they shoot out when you strat up. Think your shoevl is your best friend. That and a fellow fisherman. jcopen
yes but once its up in the air. then what. shovel some dirt under the tires??? Think if your going to shoevl might as well shovel the loose sand infront and in back of the tires rather than shovel more loose sand under the tires. Gully
yep. once you're up in the air just fill in where your tires are and you are not buried anymore. just drive away.. that is if you're aired down properly. and you can get a jack underneath in the 1st place. all this talk of jacks and ropes and straps etc is way too much work. just cave the 'hole' that you dug with your tire and you're good.. -Hey dumbass it's not about a kill or no kill tournament, it's about how much your 2nd favorite club can mug you! That's it... -the reports thread is the yenta section for NJ.. -If’n ya cut yer teeth on Ava and teaser fishing please take a seat in the back and keep quite… -is monkey see monkey do fishing even fun..?? -yes I still fish with mono..
