A Large Farva
Enough with the LIPA bashing? For real? Have you not been watching the news about how they have been told year in and year out to update their system help deal with such a catastrophe and they ignored it for money purposes. How every single press release since the storm has been about money and defending their (lack of) response? Being without power for five days is nothing Im coming up to two weeks and have yet to see a LIPA truck or even hear from LIPA except when they actually had the audacity to call my house (land line phone) on thursday just to make sure we got our bill and making sure it wasn't forgotten in the hassles after the storm. How about some answers? I can take bad news just say hopefully by thanksgiving.. hopefully by the 15th.. hopefully by christmas ANYTHING.. We're freezing our asses off over here and they're doing nothing but closing their offices and hiding from the public. Heads are definitely going to roll its not a matter of opinion at this point its a given that once this whole disaster is over that many in management there are going to be unemployed.. Dont blame lipa.. GIVE ME A BREAK
bigpoppa
What's really funny is that I haven't seen any LIPA trucks at all.I have only seen the out of state trucks.Does LIPA even have repair trucks or is everything contracted out? Catch and release,it will grow on you.
trahsub
It's so classic really. We just don't learn. Gloria dismantled LILCO (well, Shorham plant helped!), and Sandy is taking down LIPA. LIPA management sucks! And if the stories are true about not allowing non-union workers into our area...that would just be unbelievable. What's next...the RAT parked on a street where babies are cold? LI BeachRat
Well there is only three ways for this not to happen again. One put all lines under ground ( but remeber lower Manhattan was with out power for days, no trees or poles there ) Plus are you ready to pay for it? Two cut down all trees, by law, within hitting distance of lines. Three no homes built within three miles of the water. While we're asking why things are taking so long how come we still have sewage flowing into the bay? Why is the LIRR only up to 87%. Also funny but within two days of odd even gas lines the lines are gone? Hey Gov ( State & Fed ) wheres the housing needed. There is plenty of blame to go all around. Jmat321
The power lines are underground in my area, still lost power for 2 weeks. Called LIPA on Saturday night, as the LIPA site said only 6 homes were out of power in my town. In fact, there were double that on my street. Only way to get thru to a live person was to use the "Report a downed wire" option. Guy told me I should have power and that the crew must of overlooked my area. Said they'd have someone out ASAP. Finally got it back yesterday afternoon.

Finally got it back yesterday afternoon. Called on Thursday last week - told me no power until the 13th Friday crew was walking the street - they had no idea what the problem was or where the tree was depsite me speaking to them and despite already gettin other calls LIPA is NOT providing direction to the out of town crews My wife showed them where the tree was down and the lady across the street drove them around the block to where it was They got us power at abt 6:30pm or so Friday and had to come back and shut it off on Saturday for a while to fix the pole since it was too dark the night prior LIPA, LIRR, the sweage treatment facility....all of these agencies have sucked in some shape or form They have little to no incentive it would seem not to suck since they still get paid Until heads roll we will continue to suffer these fools
