bunkerhead
Just my $0.02 but the 250 is a good size reel. Best matched with a 11-12ft er IMO. The vs200 is more for 9-10ft rods. So based on the choices go with the bigger pole. And consider an 11ft rod as your next purchase. Best of luck with the reel.

Grimlock11
That is a mighty investment wouldn't one try it on those rods first to see how it feels? Perhaps you find the 200 a better fit. Just saying.

Striper Silly
Great purchase. You will love it for sure. I have the same reel and wouldn't replace it with any other reel!
capemaymartin
I have a few of these myself. Great reels! I am trying to match th VSB150 with a rod...Did you by any chance handle one of these reels? If so, what size rod would be recommended? I am thinking that a 10" rod would be best but wondered if anything shorter could work as a "multi use" pier/surf rod or should I purchase 2 rods for 2 purposes?
