Fished the catwalk in the afternoon, with nothing. Monday, fished OI for the first half of the day, nothing. Fished a while under the manteo causway bridge, nothing. Finished the day on the west side of manns harbor....nothing. Before the front moved through, fished this morning on the east side of manns harbor....nothing. boostjunkie1
You have to go to the Chesapeke Bay to catch the Stripers this time of year. Go out of Rudees Inlet to do the Ocean thing. 2007 Triumph Bay...Beach Buggy is a 2008 Dodge Ram HEMI....Curt Front Hitch, ARE Series Top, 295-70-17 Nitto TG...STRIPERS ARE TASTY
Fishhead7
You have to go to the Chesapeke Bay to catch the Stripers this time of year. Go out of Rudees Inlet to do the Ocean thing. I've never stopped at Rudee before. Is that a decent place to look for striper in the colder months?
newsjeff
The guys catch some big stripers at Rudee each Winter. It's illegal to walk on the boulders, but some still do it. You'll be safer - and legal - fishing the beach (right up against the rocks) on the north side of the jetty. Most times it's a boring and cold time out there with little action. However, you do have a chance at landing a 40lber+ with a little luck and some persistence. Good luck. brianbutler10
Well, the rest of the week was much of the same. Lots of wind....lots of BIG surf. The wind blew hard, and every 12 hours or so blew hard from another direction. 4-6' surf everywhere you went. Lots of movin around to fight the wind and surf so that we could actually fish. My buddy did manage a 22" striper on the sound side of the catwalk first thing thurs morning. The only one of the trip. Live eel close to the pilon the last 20 min of the outgoing Saw one large fish taken off of the jetty. Live eel on the outgoing tide. The only other fish that we saw during the trip. brianbutler10
im thinking next week we will see the aquarium, the wright bros memorial etc....... lol....cut my trip almost in half b/c of this weather pattern. And, while we were down, we had times that we just couldnt fish.... I recommend the exotic pet store next to fishin fever. They have an alligator and a big a** python in there. Did the aquarium a few years back with the kids....Dont make it an all day trip. Its nice, but doesnt take very long NCBBA #5665

cabcaf
I fished four times from 12/26 through today. I found at least three large schools spread out within 10 miles. The gannetts were so thick that when they were dive bombing it looked like a tornado. It was an incredible sight to see. Locals and tourists alike were lining up to watch the show. Unfortunately, the fish never moved in closer than about 500 yards. I fished some chunks as I waited to see if they'd come in. Lots of dawgies to pass the time. I still had a blast. I may go back down next weekend.
