Is the Saltiga a US model? Did you ever have it serviced / have the paperwork ? Is it possible to post up close pictures of the more noticeable scuffs on the reel? thanks

Not the crazist story but there was another fisherman next to me that was maybe 30 ft away from his rod, his drag must've been tight because he hooked onto a cownose ray and started taking his rod in the wateHes darting towards the rod as fast as he can and as the rod enters the water, he dolphin dives into the water and manages to grab his rod and land the ray. It was a magnificent save. I've seen a few people lose their setup to cownose rays this season

I'm a farily new fisherman. This is my first year chasing stripers and caught my first ever spring & fall striper. Went after multiple species this year (tog, porgy, sundial). Can't wait for next spring to go at it again

If I had to choose between the 2, it would be the VSX2. There’s a great discussion on the front page called “Visser reels” by plt391 if you want more in depth information about Vissers. If you don’t need a fully sealed reel, I would go with a Daiwa or Shimano reel for fluke

If it is a defective blank, any chance you can reach out to Century to warranty the blank?

Never had a rod explode on me, do you have a picture of the aftermath? Interested in where it exploded

As everyone said, enough to not let the spool slip on the cast. Fighting a big fish and it pulling drag is a great feeling

Thank you so much for the response. I will attempt the fix with your instructions. Just to confirm, I would be removing, cleaning and applying blue loctite to the screw circled in green (pic attached)?

Sorry if this is a little off topic but do you have experience with maintenance on the 2023 Saltiga? I have a JDM 5000-XH with a floppy bail. The screw that attached to the bail to the line roller becomes very loose when the bail is repeatedly closed. I’ve tightened the screw but it becomes loose again after closing the bail multiple times. Thanks in advance
