My girlfriend works at a high school for the arts (she’s in the finance department). As you could imagine there are lots of gender benders and what not.

There is a woman teacher who is straight and married but has requested to be addressed in a “non-gender” way to show solidarity. Instead of “he” or “she”, she wants to be addressed as “they”. :kook:

I find the pronoun thing particularly funny...someone doesn't want to be called "he" or "she" but instead of going with the non-gender singular word they jump to the plural "they".  Why? ...because "it" is offensive.  They are literally throwing out the entire singular vs plural concept because of "it".

How the **** do you even use that pronoun in a sentence that makes any sense at all? I'm running it through my head and it just keeps getting spit out as not a correct use of the term in that situation.

I’m not sure, but I guess it would be something along the lines of “tell Mary they are a woman and therefore a “she”.

You wouldn’t believe, in the school year, how many kids change their name, some a few times. One even changed their name to Zero.
