Kings over Queens
There was a deer in my yard this morning in the perfect spot. Wife is going ballistic "He's eating my flowers!" GeT YOUR GUN!. For a fleeting moment I considered grabbing the boys cross bow, going to the balcony and dropping him. I didn't. But I considered it. Would have been the perfect shot too. #otterlivesmatter
Jr
Not sure how relative it is to where you are hunting but I just got back from a week of rifle hunting in NC. Saw a lot of young bucks wondering around. Did not see many does, which is very unusual. The few good bucks seen were chasing does. I am far from an expert but I think the does aren't ready yet and their hiding from the bucks.
ChumSlickJon
Oh, I've been seeing plenty of action, just not in the right spot at the right time. I had to travel to MD for work yesterday and almost plowed a small buck when pulling around my block. Had dink bucks chasing does all around my yard last week. Sat all morning this morning and only saw one doe from the tree. As I'm pulling out of the property there are two horse farms on either side of the dirt road. Doe fly's across the road from the corral on the right into the horse pen on the left being chased by the huge 8 I've been after. He chased her around the horses for a little bit before they went jumping over the main high way and out through the fields towards the Monmouth County Parks. Man I hope he comes back. ChumSlickJon
I am far from an expert but I think the does aren't ready yet and their hiding from the bucks. It's a catch 33. On one hand you want the does to not be ready yet because they will cover more ground with the bucks in tow. Is that good? Yeah, but it's all luck. When the does are ready and willing, they go into lock down. Good luck getting the buck to separate from his doe, especially when he (they) spent all their energy seeking. Like I said, the rut is frustrating. Delete from SOL_Users where username like 'wasy','Seal'....
Kings over Queens
I saw one on the parkway the other morning. Car on the shoulder, deer in the median. Must have just gotten plowed. Nice sized 6 pointer. #otterlivesmatter

MikeMc
I saw one on the side of the road the other day going that someone whacked the rack off. You know it must be a penguin bound down if you hear that terrible screaming and there ain't no other birds around.
Cabo2005
My brother and our friend Pierre spent last week out in Illinois. Guide for a couple of days and acres of private land to hunt. Object were trophy bucks. Seems like they were a week to early as the rut turned Sunday as they were about to leave. He did say they probably saw 60 to 70 deer between the two and many were decent shots but none taken. Cabo
JaseB
Here is the Blue Ridge of VA, the bucks are in full on chase mode. Only once have I gone out and not seen does running for their lives with smaller bucks in hot pursuit. Problem is, it's hard to hit one on the run with a pointy stick! Got skunked in bow season but saw deer every time out. My dad's friend killed a bruiser 10 point with his bow, trailing a couple of does last weekend. I killed a doe and the spike that was running her last night with the smokepole. Went up behind the house this morning doing a little scouting and found 5 scrapes within 50 yards and one BIG rub. Tree about 2" in diameter, clean from 6" off the ground up to about 3'. I know where I will be in the a.m. "all of jase's posts are valid." -Otter

ChumSlickJon
I saw some giants when I went to Ohio a few years ago. They just happened to not be on the property the outfitter let us hunt on. I'd love to go back someday (not with that outfitter again though).
