Are the stripers still up north??? I live in NJ and fishermen here say that the stripers should have been here by now, but the water is not cold enough yet so they stay up north. They also said we might miss them this Fall bc they will pass right on by since due to the weather.

Is this true and will we ever see them?????

Less bass overall, beach replenishment and no sand eels yet. I heard the boats out of NJ were taking bass recently and right now there are large bunker pods off the south shore of LI. If they head your way it could be great..or not. Water temps are OK. The fish will move on the angle of the sun and weather events driving the bait out of the bays.

Sand eels are not present every year , the last few were an anomaly as was the rediculously easy fishing, any joker with a tin m tube was an instant superstar . Things are back to normal you have to work for your fish but don't doubt it , they are here

IN FAVOR OF COMMERCIAL FISHING AND SURFING THE NORTH SIDE

MAY THE RICH GET RICHER!!

Yesterday I went to the fish store and purchased about ten pound of near spoiled shrimp that are uncleaned, shell on and head on. The owner of the store always give me a call before he's going to dis guard his old shrimp.  I place about ten shrimp  in a used plastic rip lock bag( recycle the old bags by using it for fishing) Then I freeze all the shrimp and use it for striper and blue fish bait.   Went out for striper and caught some black fish instead on the shrimp.

What I have found while fishing in NJ is that we get a decent spring run but the fall has been a bust for the last several years, the main body of fish usually stays well offshore with only the occasional stray fish staying close to the surf and willing to commit suicide.
