I attended our monthly Ware River Watershed Committee meeting in Rutland this Thursday.  We were captivated with how well the DCR is managing our forests, and esp the Barre Falls WMA.

The chief forester showed slides of their projects, and repeatedly kept referring to sponge moths. After the fourth or fifth time someone asked, what's a sponge moth, a new invasive species?

The speaker replied, "no, it's the new term for a gypsy moth". Apparently the DCR asked that the term gypsy moth be stricken from their lexicon since it's quasi politically incorrect.

I guess somewhere gypsies were offended.

It's not only a Massachusetts thing.  They're "spongy moths" here in New York, too.

Watch out someone is going to pop up soon and call you a racist for stating facts.

I wouldn't worry, the previous comments I've seen have only call out the real racist remarks.

Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Im still waiting for someone to complain about the term "manhole" covers.

Most garages have an overhead door and a man door. Will we have to call it something else ?
