I was fishing a Cape location today and found a hand carved plug in a pile of weeds.

A name, R. E. Willis is stamped in the side. The plug is peculiar, to me at least. The shape looks to be possibly a Cunner imitation. The color is red on top, white on the bottom, with a black lateral line and pink lips. Now for the peculair part, the treble is coming out of the mouth and the eyelet is towards the tail.

My guess is that the plug was designed to be vertically jigged to imitate a Cunner diving into the rocks but I could be wrong.

Does anybody know anything about this plug or the maker?

I may be able to post a picture if I get hold of a digital camera.

Is 13 years to late to continue your own thread? I forgot about this lure and thread many moons ago but came across this plug again recently. I really like this thing and now it hangs prominently in my fishing room.
