Rod question

I have a bunch of rods that have my name on them with a brother P touch label that appears to be flex coated over. I want to sell them and I’m thinking of trying to remove the label. Is that something that is easy to do? Can I just heat up the flex coat with a heat gun and remove it?

Best way is to wrap over in dark thread then apply finish.  You'll 100% damage/scratch the rod trying to scrape off finish.

The rod was finished first and then the p touch labels was put over the other finish.  It is a raised section.

Dave,

If it as you say - yes - you can remove the top layer of finish and remove the label.  Then refinish.

I would not appply heat.

I would sand with 600---800 wet or dry paper until label is removed.

I've done this.

I second HL’s suggestion. Sanding and then apply finish over the sanded area will work well. Even if the blank is sanded a bit it will look ok after a coat of finish. This would be pretty easy to do on a rod lathe.
