So the old vent, the bearings on the motor went. Squeak squeak squeak. Horrible. Went out and got a new one.

The old one, the light and the fan are in same switch. Switch in, light and fan go on.

This is a legit install, right? I figure there will be leads for the light and leads for the fan. Wire nut them together to the wires coming off the switch. Ground to ground of course.

I ****ing hate electricity.

Not bearings, but what evs.
Turn off breakers till the squeak stops. Or turn off the main.

120 should not kill ya unless you don’t put the toilet lid down before you use it for a ladder.

Hence the 'or die' part.

He won't die as long as he gets out of his house before it burns down.

But, what happens is fan installer guy goes to take a crap, and evacuate the fumes with his brandy new fan he installed himself, half way through the evacuation he smells smoke, and has to finish things off, and do the evacuate the home two step with itchy cheeks.
