Looks like a white bass or white perch striper hybrid known as a wiper

I didn’t think white perch hybridized with striped bass in the wild? But certainly no white bass around here as far as I know

I think so too.  The broken lines and overall shape.

Where was it caught? @mcnar was it your catch or was this pic from someone else?

Not go insane due to boredom or stress, exercise so I can paddle all day soon, and tie enough flies to not tie in the spring, summer and fall. Also catch a few trout and pickerel.

A few guys I talked to said "Me and my girl have been casting plugs for something to do in a local river but we have not caught anything"

What's your winter project??

Replacing hooks on plugs. About as exciting as watching a new coat of paint dry:squid:

Also a reminder that I have waaaaay too many...

I’m going through some old magazines (some going back to the 70s):

saltwater Sportsman

saltwater fly fisherman

fly rod and reel

fly fisherman

fly tyer

eastern fly fishing

alaska & Alaska outdoors

on the water.

i love the stories in the early Alaska outdoor magazines…that was some strange stuff…. One guy was writing about the challenges of having a pet wolf .  He lived in isolation (12 miles down a dirt road) but his wolf would still sneak off to the local high school and steal the schools football while the kids were practicing.  The school knew it was his wolf and would send him a bill each time he stole a ball.

i prefer the style of writing in the older magazines compared to what’s out there today.
