How did everyone fare this year.

To me this season was different as seasons come and go. I had a decent spring, fish on every outing, with live eels. That was something new for me, as well as fishing a different river in the spring. Not too many outings , but fruitful.

I made my last fall outing yesterday and had a blast on live eels, my favorite bait. Happy I was able to fish into November. Hadn't done that in a few years.

Had the chance to make some plugs in the spring too. I have been trying to get back to some plug work but either too busy or too tired. My friend Roddy asked me yesterday if I made any progress, I said yeah, I did some sanding.

I hope all fared well and are in good spirits for the upcoming holidays .:howdy:

Didn’t get to fish as much as I would of liked but did very well considering the water temp issue we had here in RI. April to end of June was a massacre. Summer was a bust here in RI. August to November was very good to me. Finally got back into freshwater this year and it was very fun. Probably the best part of the season. Really relaxing to just be able to kick back and enjoy the moment. No expectations.

What was up with the water temp issue? Curious

I used to fish RI exclusively years ago. I knew the bass were out front when the honeysuckle bloomed. yeah, just to get out and no expectations.:howdy:

Water temps very outrageously high everywhere. All along the ocean front, it was bath water warm. Very little action. Let alone bait presence. I don’t remember a night where the water was under 70 degrees the entire month of July, part of June, and half of august.

Yes, that was certainly a high water temp, especially for June and early July. I did well out front years ago during that time frame. :howdy:

Thanks for a great , uplifting post !!! Didn’t fish the beach until a bit after Labor Day, lotsa boat time and prepping our house for sale , but the beach was very good to me . Fished the dark hours mostly and it reminded me of the fishing we had 15 years ago for both quality and quantity.

I had a late start this year after trying to nail down surf stripers on the fly I had a nasty gash on my finger in early October (chopped nerves) so the month of October was a busy.  But I redeemed myself in November and fished plugs for the rest of fall great couple weeks landing keeper sized bass.  We had big storm last night so I set out yesterday morning to a spot where I lost a decent fish a week before.  The conditions were rough but I managed to get a 25 pound bass on a needlefish early in the day.  BTW this is the latest I’ve caught a surf bass here in the Cape Breton surf.

Cheers

I usually do very well during the summer. Usually better than any other time of the year, especially for better quality fish but this year was pretty rough

I did not get resident bass this year. 29 year run and it ended so I can't complain . What a run. There was nothing consistent for me in Metro Boston. My largest Bass was 50" on the nose. But the catch numbers for me was way down this year. I will have to start moving around more earlier as soon as it starts tanking.
