Went to start it up as I try to do every month or so and for the first time in many years I can't get it to start.  Gas is fresh with stabil.  Gas is flowing at least to the filter input, the placed the plug.  Shoot some starter fluid in and it will run for a few seconds and die.  Switch is on.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Cabo

Sounds like a fuel problem.

Change out the filter, and work your way down the line.

Certainly out of warranty by years.  Of course last time I used it I shut the valve and ran it dry which is something I rarely if ever did before.

I always do that with all my equipment. Has never failed me yet. I would pull the carb off. Pop that needle valve out and make sure it's clean. Blow out all the ports. If you remove the jet, just count the number of turns so you get it back where it was (of course that's assuming it has an adjustable jet). Make sure your choke it working properly.

You might be able to get to the float, bowl and needle without a big hassle. Look for crud, clean.

Or, just go and buy another gennie.

It is only money.

Happened to me two years ago and I also run mine dry. Take a look at the inside of your tank. Mine rusted enough to clog the shutoff valve. Replaced the tank, cleaned out the carb, added fresh fuel and SeaFoam and all was well.
