Capt.Castafly
The fish blog was created as a common communal gathering place to share and report weekly fishing activity. Having this information in one thread benefits those who greatly use this RI forum and ply our local waters. The premise is to gather all weekly reports into one common portal, thus making it easy to access, view and add your own fish reports and comments. This is the sixth year for this unique approach. Post your success or skunks, either way, black or white, zero to hero, let us all share this information. Fresh, factual information is one of the best sources of Intel we have at our disposal to predict what may happen tomorrow. As others have noted, The Fat Lady is warming her voice, ready to make a presents on stage. It's a sad time of year if you are passion and anal about the sport. It depressing backing off on reel drags, relieving the pressure, when we are use to hearing our reels screaming that wonder song. This addition of the blog will run all the way to the end of November. The holidays are just around the corner, Thanksgiving next week. I plan on still doing some wading if the days are right, possible some trout fishing tool bdowning, Salt Boys, pittedsopitted and 4 others 3 4 Nothing flies by me without a hook! If my fly is down, That's a good thing. Public Access.....It's a shore thing. My daily requirement of "Vitamin Sea". Capt. Ray Stachelek
albacized
Tried a popular SoCo location - no sign of life whatsoever. So I headed up to an upper bay/back Bay Area. I got there right around slack high. This area seemed to have some promise as there was some signs of surface activity chasing tiny bait. That initial action yielded only several shad (on the smallest size ronz white sand eel soft plastic)… but then the passage of the cold front seemed to choke the life out of the river. I changed gears and tried fly fishing, which did yield several more shad, but was a lot of work for a normally easy fish to catch. I finally switched back to the spinning rod and the ronz, basically a whole lot of nothing, until the end of the outing, when I finally caught one micro size bass. I threw several more cast, but broke off on a snag…didn’t seem worthwhile to re-tie, so packed up and left. I probably should have opted for a morning shift at said location Capt.Castafly and bdowning
Kooky
I enjoy checking on the surf cams at work, sometimes its torture when fish are busting. Last week the bird action was slowing down but still easy to see some bait and fish busting here and there. It has gone really quiet since the end of last week. No birds, bait, fish, or seals seen, but lots of surfers. Looks like the fat lady is really warmed up, almost time to transition to winter fishing. Always sad when seasons end, makes you regret the trips you didnt take and think back on the good ones you did take. foxfai, TheTauntonRiverRunner and VanStaalSteve 2 1 ^^ I didnt even notice it didnt get censored, I guess anal is acceptable in SOL.... bdowning
Some action out back last nite, all "fat lady" schoolies. The cold has scattered the bait and even the shad a bit but it's not vanished yet. Mostly silversides plus a few bigger baits I could not get a good look at. Prolly a few slots and above around...if you want to spend a ton of time trying to find them. teddispahgetti 1 Pfantum Pfishah
albacized
Seems like reports came to a screeching halt - is it really that slow out there?

Zeek
Showed up to a pretty popular spot, lots of guys fishing but didn’t seem like many people catching. got a few schoolies, one decent and called it a night. Tried a few spots before hand that were very weedy from the storm. Salt Boys
Kooky
Got out last night and managed 8 or so schoolies, the end of year smaller variety but saw at least 1 low slot caught. Also saw a DEM officer check for poaching which is a first in a long time, not sure where they are the rest of the season. With the milder night there were way more people out fishing then i ever would have thought for end of Nov. Used to fish these tides all alone years ago. Saw some bigger baits swimming around chasing some small bait, these fish were 6-7" long. If it was Oct i would have said mullet, and if spring maybe a herring, anyone have any clue what they may be? Do sea herring come in shallows this time of year, seems too late for mullet? Zeek and Dutch57 1 1 ^^ I didnt even notice it didnt get censored, I guess anal is acceptable in SOL.... Zeek
Late afternoon 6 or so schoolies , small but thick. Tried a few spots earlier that werent working with heavier ssw winds. Maybe the fact that the water has stayed pretty warm is keeping some fish around. Kooky and Dutch57

I've seen sea herring very late (december) being chased by bass up inside the salt ponds and channels, but this was some years ago. Not a common thing anymore.
