StripersBR
Good morning everyone. I need to upgrade the belt that I have. I was looking at the basic Gear up belt for $89.99 and was going to buy that. But then I seen the Z belt surf belt with the lower back support and was wondering how that belt is? Is it worth buying? I should have tried it out at the shows last spring, but didnt get the chance. Would anyone buy the Z Belt over the basic Gear up belt? Thanks and have a great day!! dvalente98
zbelt. So far I love it and its very comfortable. Im able to put a bunch of stuff on there and it holds the weight well. Neoprene is very comfortable compared to those harder and stiffer materials Edited November 16 by dvalente98
gotrings
wow thought i was on a different forum when i posted that.. brain fog have been burning both ends of the fishing candle last few days! StripersBR
Thank you for the reply. I like that Ultimate belt, but it looks like the gear up one with the added velcro safety strap. For now ill hold off on this. Id rather try the Zbelt first. One thing Id want is for it to be able to take it off easy and quick. When i plug ibsp, i wanna be able to take it off quick and just toss it in my jeep and keep rolling. That velcro strap would become really annoying really quick. Is does help with your lower back? dvalente98

chisler
Trying them out is best. But here is something to think about outside of the quick 'try on' I have both: Gear Up is much stiffer and structurally sound. The Zbelt does offer back support. The trade off outside of the structure issue is the Zbelt being wide can tend to slide down your waist much more easily than the Gear Up. That can be a nuisance. Italianbuca
love my zbelt. the only negative that I have with it is that you can't swing the bag all the way around you, however all of the positives with the support and the stacked material configuration so the bags don't hang up on your waders far outway that one negative. StripersBR
Nice! Thank you guys! A question i have for you guys with the Z belts is, do you guys carry the plug bag on your shoulder? Or do you like to attach it on your belt? I carry it on my shoulder for now. But thinking about switching to putting it on my belt

But thinking about switching to putting it on my belt Z belt materials is nice and soft. But the straps on there can handle a heavy bag no problem. I put everything I carry on the belt including the bag. Not having anything draped over your shoulder is really nice. also, depending on how much walking and how much time I’ll be fishing, I attach a pair of old suspender I have from my days as a carpenter. They’re are holes on the zbelt that allow for this (although I’m pretty sure they’re not there for that reason). I may look ridiculous but I’ve walked very far and spent a lot of time in that setup. As far as I’m concerned, doesn’t get much better comfort wise. I don’t have lower back issues (yet) so I can’t comment on that side of things.
