against the grain to whatever else anyone recommends.

i like using the lightest power tuna topwater rods for this application.

i rather have a rod with the available power over an inshore rod.

i can still throw down to like .5oz but can also throw stickbaits upwards to 3oz.

ya never know what you can hook up on, especially if you travel around.

unless you know specifically you will only fish a certain location.

then an inshore type rod is ok.

i use 2/3 rule for trading. join date, posts, or vouch. whoever has less goes first.

What Eric recommends is really honestly a good idea

That being said a lot of this also comes down to how you prefer to fish a rodĀ

If you like to fish a shorter butt section you might typically find on inshore rodsĀ  there are some good options out there

If you prefer to fish a slightly longer butt sectionĀ  a lot of the tuna popping rods have thisĀ

I've got 2 rods I use for this, both customs but one has a shorter butt for kayak use and if I've got access to a boat I generally opt for a longer butt on the other oneĀ

I’d check out the new 7’ century weapon jr wrecker 6x it’s a very stout blank rated 1/2-3.5oz . Great for casting that good woodĀ

What are you guys using on inshore plugging rods for boat use? I have a VSX 50 and a Century weapon jr. mag and it's just to light for throwing heavier plugs.

I have a vsx50 paired to a 7’10ā€ weapon mag, but I use something else for boat fishing. Ā

I settled on 2 Jigging Worlds. The Onyx 7'6" 3-8oz and the Nexus 7'6" 2-6. Short money and very comfortable to handle. Wish they had Fuji guides but haven't had any guide problems as of yet with the ones JW uses.

Another vote for the Nexus 7’6 2-6. Plus they’re on sale right now.Ā

I also like the black hole charter special 7’3 rated 3-8
