EricL Posted November 16 Report Share Posted November 16 against the grain to whatever else anyone recommends. i like using the lightest power tuna topwater rods for this application. i rather have a rod with the available power over an inshore rod. i can still throw down to like .5oz but can also throw stickbaits upwards to 3oz. ya never know what you can hook up on, especially if you travel around. unless you know specifically you will only fish a certain location. then an inshore type rod is ok. GrahamN Posted November 17 Report Share Posted November 17 What Eric recommends is really honestly a good idea That being said a lot of this also comes down to how you prefer to fish a rod If you like to fish a shorter butt section you might typically find on inshore rods there are some good options out there If you prefer to fish a slightly longer butt section a lot of the tuna popping rods have this I've got 2 rods I use for this, both customs but one has a shorter butt for kayak use and if I've got access to a boat I generally opt for a longer butt on the other one Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ba Ba Buoy Posted November 19 Report Share Posted November 19 (edited) I settled on 2 Jigging Worlds. The Onyx 7'6" 3-8oz and the Nexus 7'6" 2-6. Short money and very comfortable to handle. Wish they had Fuji guides but haven't had any guide problems as of yet with the ones JW uses.
