Pretty sure the first I purchased were in Fall 1987. Only lipped swimmers were offered, all used spinner blade lips no Z lips, CCBC Surfster shape, triditional Danny, CCBC Pikie, Atom. No packaging just the lips stuck in saw groove in a board. No rear hooks only a flag.

Hahns have put more fish on the beach/rocks for me over any other plug. He was probably the first to start building plugs. It's a long time ago but I remember seeing and buying my first Hahns in the late 80s or early 90s at Betty & Nick's. They were arranged in a display type tray.

The sealing sucked, paint was fair, the more water logged that they got, the better they caught.

Rainy days were always quiet in my Store and utilized for errands like driving 50miles down the Shore to buy more Plugs. Chatting with the Old Timer who's Shop sold the Bob Hahn's I commented about there buoyancy and top water action, never having to bend/fiddle to get them to swim better. He chuckled and told me that was because the were primarily made of Pine, and Pine being quite bouyant, ext. Bob was a carpenter building houses primarily, fishing was a pastime and scrounging suitable scrap around the job site kept costs down.
