Starting using an 8mm bead between my mainline and swivel  end of last season .Was getting tired of occasionally sucking the swivel through the top guide.Do you think it would fray the braid? Not a fan of sending a knot through my guides if I were to connect my main line to the leader with a knot.

Is it a metal bead, plastic bead, glass bead?

if fishing with a bead I’ve always used either a plastic bead so it won’t wear the line out damage the tip if someone reels it into the tip.

I don’t see a plastic bead abroemally wearing line, but a metal/glass/ceramic bead with sharp edges or rust in it could fray line

I do not use beads for this application, but when I do use beads I like the rubber round or egg glow beads (Pucci Soft Glow Beads as example) as they serve the same purpose and are easier on knots and line than a plastic bead which i find can have sharp edges. Only draw back to the rubber beads is they float vs sink. I have had swivels break the ceramic rings in rods before so not a bad idea.

Do bluefish not eat your swivel and cut you off? I'd think that'd be an issue at night in particular, no?
