Non neoprene, zippered surf jacket recommendation

I have a Helly Hansen anorak but after many years of use, am thinking it needs to be replaced.

I am looking for a zippered jacket that is not thin material.

I also don't want to pay $500 either.

Does anyone use one they can recommend?

check out jacket for sailing.

i had from $40 to $700 waterproof,if is good rain you get wet in all off them.

what will keep you dry is plastick or ruber.

best would be if you sow from light clear vinal plasick what they use for boat vindows, you can make that or tarp shop can do that.

with my $500 goratex jacket i have to carie construction garbige bag and put that over in rain.

Grundens make excellent jackets for fishing. I fished yesterday and the day before in a nor'east rain storm in a #3i9 Commercial zipped jacket and stayed dry. They are comfortable and cost @ $110.00

Does it trap a lot of heat so you sweat?

I’ve been going back and forth between grundens and HH.  The heavy commercial grundens coats are bullet proof, but I think they’re uncomfortable.  I like lighter coats and then wear layers underneath when needed.

I just ordered this one.  I’ll be in it for 4-5 days next week.  I’ll let you know how it works out.

Hesrs things about the Grundens.

I have had the HH Roan Anorak for years and it is flexible and does a good job.  Just think I would like the convenience of a full zip but haven't decided.

I currently use a grundens Neptune insulated anorak and it’s served me well for years but it’s getting some leakage.  Prior to that I had a HH Anorak.  Both were fine coats- nothing exceptional about either one.  But nothing bad either.  Both coats lasted many years, and I have no complaints about either one.

My only concern about the full zip is if the zipper fails, then the coat is useless.  Pullovers are still functional if the zipper freezes.

You get what you pay for.    That’s all it comes down to these days.

that is not true.

i got $700 mustang suit what costgurd were,waterproof,30  minutes rain and i am soaked to the bone in february storm on the ice.

you get what you pay for,$700 suit and i have to carie codtruction garbige bag to keep me dry.

i can get ski jacket from trift store and constraction garbige bag for $20 and it work like the $700 suit.

You’re better off wearing a garbage bag than most gear these days. Especially most low to mid range price gear after a few months of use……. Next time you spend that kind of $ on rain gear you want to look for “gortex pro” fabric….

Steve-

Can this jacket sustain 20-30 degree temps with blustery winter winds?  Also is it breathable?

Thanks so much.....
