Both pricey, wouldn't buy either without test casting. That said I wouldn't include ODM in the company of any Century offering...

Why not? I got some of the ODM Genesis 2 and the 8’, 9’ and 11’ are great rods. I am especially impressed with the 8’. Cast great and very strong.

I have the 8’. It’s my favorite but the 9’ is to soft for my liking but a lot of guys love it. I went back to my frontier x. Maybe I like old school. That 8’ is a perfect balance.

ODM, nice rods, friend has a few I've cast them numerous times. The knock if any, pricey considering Chinese blanks and most built with middle of the line components. No better than alot of factory rods built on Asian blanks and mid tier components. Picked up a pair of Okuma Rockaways 2 yrs back in a trade, just as spare 2pc to keep in the truck...$50 for the pair. Build is on par with ODM and honestly they cast and fish surprisingly well, I preferred either to the ODM's I've thrown.

The Okuma rockaway maybe built in par with the century rods. The guides in ODM Genesis 2021 are Fuji guides. The guides in the $1100 century rods are titanium but considering the $700 difference in the price, does it worth it?

I can buy the top of Legend rods from StCroix with the titanium guide for $120 which includes the shipping cost as well..

And go...

There is no 1 perfect rod company. Everyone has their preference.

I can tell you that the ODM will not be the same rod down the road a bit. The materials will fatigue and the rod will continue to get sloppier. Century blanks are autoclaved so no material fatigue.  The Surf Machine will perform exactly the same 5 years down the road as day 1.

If you can test them that's your best bet. See which rod suits you.

We're putting on a demo and plug show tomorrow in SeaSide Heights if you're not too far away.

If you say so. I've talked with many customers who have said different and I've experienced it myself as well.

As I've said a million times. Fish what you like. Enough said
