catchem8
I am looking for a ml inshore rod, preferably around $100 and as light as possible. Currently I am looking at fenwick HMG inshores and regular hmgs, does anyone know the differences? The regular ones feel lighter. Also would the falcon coastal clearwater rods be lighter than the hmg? I would probably put a daiwa fuego 2500 as the reel. Thanks for any wisdom! DAQ
The Fenwick HMG's Inshores are great rods for the price. DinkWrangler 1 Embrace American Privilege

EricDice
Don’t know how it compares to these other options, but I’ve been very pleased with the Jigging World Onyx. I have the 8’ I think M/ML - there’s only the one option in that length. Everything from fluke/flounder, small stripers, and the occasional tog. Has a .5-2 rating but I have lob-tossed 3 ounces no problem. Very lightweight. Like - insanely light. recoil
RichG
You might want to take a look at the Star Stellar Lite. Star offers great reasonably priced rods imo. Buckscorider, lpgots, oax and 1 other

WLIStless
A large northeast tackle shop that has the letters J, H in its name has the dark matter inshore rods on sale for $100. For a bit more, an even bigger retailer who will send you your tackle directly is having a 40% off sale on st. Croix in shore rods. They are being replaced this fall by a new version, but were always a fairly light rod. JSRybak
JimJ
I have 2 regular HMGs bought 7 or so years ago. 6’6 med spinning and 6’6 mh casting. Love the moderate fast action. Great rods for the price. Fine in salt water. My buddy has 2 inshore HMG 6’6 mh spinning. The inshore series has better guides than my older HMGs and action seems heavier. I don’t know if current HMGs are changed from my older ones. I recommend either. Fenwick customer service is best. I had the reel seat fall apart in my casting rod. I sent them pictures and they sent me a new rod. Didn’t have to send defective rod back. DinkWrangler
27conch
I have been using the Falcon freshwater models in saltwater a long time and love them. I personally would stay away from the Tsunami Airwaves as they all tend to break. Their elite series is so much better but above your price point. If I’m not mistaken, you mentioned in one of your older posting that you also have the 10’ Suzuki Special with the same rating. How far (best guess) can cast a small metal or epoxy jig with the onyx vs Suzuki?
Mr.Belmar
If you want to save some more cash or maybe get a second- I picked up a rod for 35$ off Amazon (on sale w/coupon) and I have been using for inshore / inlet /River fishing this whole summer. The rod amazes me - every aspect of it! I have the casting version and it has micro Fuji guides, it feels great, too many good things to say about this rod for the money. I have been using it for stripers and it has a really fun feel and action when you have a fish on- and it also has enough back bone when you need it. The company is legit (I contacted them) and they offer a 1 yr warranty if it breaks for any reason, they replace it. The company is called “Handing” and the rod model is ‘Magic L’ I have the 7’6 MH casting version…
catchem8
Interesting, might look into it as a guest or beater rod and throw a kastking sharky reel on it.
D_L
I use Fenwick hmg 6’-6” fast moderate. Also check out falcon rods. Have several and they are great rods.
