Colin2175
Hello! I'm currently looking to purchase my first surf bag. I came across the Surf Rite Supreme Surf Bag and was considering the 10 Slot Double Row Large Bag at $90 or the 5 Slot Single Row Medium Bag at $70. It seems like a good bag that is able to hold a lot of stuff. I was wondering what are your opinions on this bag? I noticed from some previous posts on the forum that some said the strap was too short. Apparently, it was from a bad batch of bags that had short straps in 2018/2019. I was wondering if any of the bags still have this problem? Also, feel free to recommend any other bags in the below $100 range that you think would be better. Fisherman888
I have the version with the 2 rows. Functional bag for the price. 3 things I don’t like: The bucktail slots are too tight to the square tubes, rendering them almost useless for me as I can’t easily see or reach any bucktails or tins I put in there. Not impervious to hooks, as one would expect in a bag not made of sailcloth. Bag is not tall enough to accommodate long needles. Been struggling for a while whether to splurge on a “real” bag but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Busanga
What constitutes a 'real' bag, any particular brand in mind ? Edited September 23 by Busanga
LockedDrag
Garbage. Amazon has a bag that is pretty well made for $60 or so. I believe the brand is last cast. Cheap and works very well. Other than that, I would just bite the bullet and get a quality surf bag larrym09
kooch
I have a Surf Rite 3 tube. For 30$ it's a bargain and seems to be holding up well. I would guess there other bags would be same. That said there is about a dozen things that I wish were different on the bag. I've looked at the higher end bags but none of them really have what I am looking for so I'll keep my cheap Surf Rite bag and modify it to suit my needs. i_like_poppers
A surf bag is one of those things that last a long time. Id just spend a few more bucks for a gear up, they arent terribly priced and are good qualify. You can probably find a used one in the BST. Bdemiri23
I have owneda supreme for 5years and it’s great. Held up to all conditions and you don’t need to spend $300 on a bag. I own a gear up also and yes it’s better quality but also heavier.

Pickerel92
If it’s 90 bucks for a surf rite then it’s a rip off. Go onto the BST here and put up a WTB for a quality bag, made from sailcloth like a gear up. You’ll spend a little extra now but it will last forever and you will grow into it as your fishing evolves. A new gear up 2 tube is 150 bucks. I’d spend the extra 60 in a heartbeat over the surf rite, knowing that I’ll get a much higher bang for my buck. I think a 2-tube is the right call. Pack 6-8 plugs, that’s all you need. SeaZen 21
I have the small Surf Rite bag, the 3 tube. In fact I have 2 of them. I put them on my belt, not a fan of shoulder straps. If im going light light, I just carry one bag. If im going light, I’ll take both one on each side of my back. I usually go light light as I’ve scaled down over the years. I don’t fish the surf every day or even every week, so these have lasted me close to 10 years now.
chisler
I bought one (five tube), and then upgraded after one season in the surf. As a belt bag the Velcro loops are not strong enough to hold up to actual wading into the surf, the loops for the belt become loose then the bag fails to hold tight to your side and flops about. The bag catches hooks very easily and becomes a real nuisance. The bag gets pretty heavy after getting wet due to the type of fabric used in its construction. The bag is short if you carry longer plugs. All that aside, if you don't use it often or get wet when fishing it might work out for you. Surf bomber
If your not catching fish with a 3 tube surf bag either your doing something wrong or there are no fish present where your fishing … and sometimes fish may get lock jaw for no reason Sandbar1
SteveKaz
I had a Surf Rite bag for one season... it was not good. Hooks kept getting snagged on it and the rubberized inner layer started delaminating. I switched to a Gear Up 2 tube and never looked back. RichG
I have a 3 tube and a 5 tube Surf Rite bag, one is 5 years old, the other is 7 years old, both still in good shape. I expect to get several more years of life out of both of them.
