Maybe we can all get together one day. Meet somewhere for coffee, at the beach or anyplace that works for all.

Think about it and I will post after I arrive and settle in and we can decide on the best location and time.

Look forward to meeting you guys.........Ghost

There from 10/18 until 10/22.  Hoping that there might be a drum or two for us, and that a potential government shutdown doesn't close our beaches!

There’s no rule or law stating that National Parks be closed to visitors during a shutdown.

Jon Jarvis, who served as NPS Director from 2009 until 2017, made the decision to close the parks during the 2013 shutdown, in order to prevent damage to them.

As I see it there are two separate issues.  What the House of Representatives does (as dysfunctional a lot as you'll see,) AND what the Administration (Dept of the Interior) does in response.  If they stay open there needs to be some means of paying for at least a skeleton crew of LEOs.  They creatively found a way to do that in '19.  Gov of Utah has announced that his state will pick up the tab to keep their nat'l parks open.  Thinking out loud here, is it possible that in the interim that county sheriff's deputies patrol the beaches as well?

There is already minimal beach staffing during off season and not a very heavy presence during off peak season.  I would still buy an ORV permit just because its so much cheaper than paying a possible fine.  Since you can pull off and park almost anywhere on Hwy 12 (as long as all tires are off the road) it would be almost impossible to fully close the beaches.  Ramps maybe. Beaches no.

Perfect.  Just in time for my vacation.  :banghd:

Worry not. Even if they close the ramps there are still miles of accessable beach all along Rte 12. Not to mention fishing in front of the hotels in Buxton, various piers and bridges (like Bonner), and the entire soundside.

For anyone headed there in the next month or so Google Earth is your friend.
