Are shoes getting smaller?

I used to wear a size 12 shoe. I even have a pair of some size 12 sneakers that fit perfectly. But they're worn out and I need new ones. Something cheap that I don't mind getting dirty or wet. So I went to Walmart(no snickering) and I can't even get the size 13 sneakers on  my feet. I didn't get fat. Some size 13 boots fit but some don't. I need to get size 13 extra wide in some styles but some snow boots fit fine. I remember trying on some size 13 hiking boots 20 years ago that where way to big. Now when I try hiking boots on they're way to small. 

 

So have my feet gotten bigger or have they made the sizes smaller?

Same here. I had to size up too. Wierd.

Got a pair of US made size 9 rubber boots delivered from  Walmart today, kinda big on me.

The problem is size 13 is the largest size they have. I can't size up unless I shop somewhere else but then I'd probably have to pay a lot more.

I went down this internet rabbit hole a few months ago. It is indeed somewhat true. What’s happened is the mold size or lase laste?? It’s called something like that  anyway. 
so basically an American size 9 mold would be a China size 10. So it’s not so much that the size changed more but manufacturers moved over seas. Therefore their measurements are a little different same thing different scale.
