Hey Dan K- looking like a nice set up! Just a friendly suggestion on your hooks. It’s good that you changed them out - but it appears that you used the same size hook (3/0?) on all your plugs and lures- particularly the top row of smaller lures like magdarters and sp minnow like ones- all of those should have smaller hooks. I’m unsure of the proper hook size on each lure- but I’m guessing it’s a 1 or 1/0 size? Guys on here would know for sure, if someone could chime in. The ones in the pic look like size 3/0 or 2/0? Which look appropriate for the Danny plug but too big for the top row of lures All this to say, having different hook sizes on plugs will most definitely change the way they swim thus catching less fish (or none) or maybe swimming better… most likely it would kill the action. So you may want to go back and check some of these things out. Lots of info on SOL about appropriate sizes or even mods guys do that make them swim better- like on a red fin a lot of guys put smaller trebles on (1 or 1/0) to give it better action… anyways just something to look into. That top left black plug you can see some hook rash on, it doesn’t look like it lines up with the current hooks… Hopefully this will save you some headaches and time bbfish
bbfish
In the off season I usually buy some bulk hooks from 1-5/0, packs of 25 of each. I know for sure too big a hook on the plastic lip swimmers can and will kill the action. Best bet is to try and gauge the size of the original hook vs the VMC's. Looks like you have most of the water column covered. The only things I would add is: some sort of cup faced popper, you can go with the super strike for out front, for the back I want something that floats and has a bit of a bigger cup to it to throw more water. A small-medium sized spook, think 1-2 ounces, and some straight tail plastics on jig heads. Theres lots of types out there, my favorite would be the 6" sluggo on a half-1 oz head, and some megashads with some half-1.5 oz heads. sjsurf2014
@Dan K here is a shot of my fall setup for the bigger fish. I like what you have in your setup, let’s hope the fish like them this fall as well
BrianZ
You have your bases covered for the most part. I fish alone 90% of the time and rarely do jetties anymore so my bag is full of lures to be fished from the snad at night. schoolbus bomber 5" mambo 1 & 2 oz metal lips slow sink or floating needles sp minnow hand full of jigs soft plastics and bucktails what size and color depends on conditions. I usually keep one tube open to add a lure or two like a darter or bottle plug etc

cec127
Suggest a few more sand eel imitations just incase this fall is more of a sand eel bite then bunker. Tsunami sand eels and gravity tackle eels on jig head both great options.

Moose
Eh now to all you SOLers, been a minute but glad to see you again! Thought about heading up from VA this weekend or next but not sure how to read the pre-storm vs. aftermath next week. Seems afterwards it's a toss up but take a while to settle back down since everything gets all mixed up offshore. Just stocking up on lures and such, cleaning up the inventory, and getting dialed in. Any advice is much appreciated, not sure where else to head besides the hook and get my marching boots ready. PS: Is the Fall Fling still a thing? Came up for one few years back and had a good time meeting a few of you characters! -Cheers (*member formerly known as 'jbg123')
