Loving chunking! Chair and a bell on the rod tip, problem is everyone keeps waking me up thinking I’m dead , ha ha,

I bring a chair all the time but never sit in it.   I use it as a table, saving my back from bending all the time to get bait out of the cooler, plus protecting myself given the area I fish.

Hurricane Lee lining up with the September new moon was exactly what we needed to send the bite into overdrive. Had a couple taps last night as well but they were definitely taking it easy. I've been saying it to my friends a couple weeks now, this week was my best fishing all year last year. Given the water temps I fully expect the fish to be here WELL through October.

Curious why you guys think chunking hasn't been producing as much as previous years despite there being an abundance of bluefish around?

I went out for a tide in my kayak Thursday night but didn't end up with much to show for it, just a few schoolies up to 27", although I did have a bunch of missed hookups. Up until yesterday afternoon it was too windy to try again, but I couldn't get out.

Are those fish from this past few days?

What day is it??? As you can tell from the beard, its just fishing at this point, nothing else really matters. Beard? shaggy. relationships? failing. business? closed because I'm out fishing. haha in all seriousness, yeah we fished the last couple days. Also thinking of taking the kayak out for one or two last sleigh rides before the season is over.

Nice , we had em here, then the good bite ended late August , with the amount  of peanut bunker it was hard to believe 3 of us really old seasoned guys couldn’t get a fish in a few weeks? 3 we’re taken this morning, even the diehards are cutting back their trips. Still think some will come, but how good

Do you think it has anything to do with lack of fish in the biomass altogether??

It’s been a flip flop year in this respect. Early fish late April were fat and nothing less than 20”, then the fish got huge with lots in 40” plus, then 7-10 day periods of a 1-2 fish. Every place did a 180 on predictability. I had 1 week chunking inside the harbor gave me all 27” -32” fish! 2-3 in 2 hours, then dead! For my area I think the hot/ too warm water killed it.

The water temps could certainly have something to do with it. July was super tough for me & my friends, really working for those bites. In any case, the fishing is just starting to get good for the fall run, im sure it'll be a while until the fat lady sings. Just hoping that it's before deer season starts or I'll have some serious decisions to make...
