Thank goodness for standby, whole home generators & fiberoptic instead of cable.  It's business as usual here...

What’s the advantage there? Is it buried?

Cable needs power for transmission.  If you see some of their junction boxes on poles, you'll notice a little light on them so for extended power outages, you'll lose it.  Fiberoptic doesn't have that limitation, at least in terms of transmission, no power needed. Here both are on poles so they're equally susceptible to tree damage.

Obviously, you'll need power at home to drive your network hardware...

Bare with me, if the town loses power will that fiber optics line be live without power ?

Yes, 82% of my town was down today and I had internet all day.  I assume the origination point, the local telecom head office, had a generator.

Cool.  Plugs it is!

Oh yeah!   Unfortunately, I'm not  plugger but am thinking about becoming one.   What a horrible chunking year from shore!    Worst ever by far.   Yet where will I be before sunrise tomorrow?
