VanStaalSteve
These were a hot dropper fly/plug a long while back . I took numerous bass on them while they were fished as a teaser to a Redfin or the like. Sometimes they were hotter than a 4” Redgill. Used by fly guys too as it was light enough to be casted on a 9 weight. I used them on a leader behind a 3 way swivel and weight dressed with cut bait. A shop in Anglesea, NJ (fancy talk for a North Wildwood) called Al’s Sea and Surf used to sell them. 7’ fiberglass pole, Penn Spinfisher, great-aunt’s 3 speed bike, bucket with gear. derekh
Still have some of Phils first ones . a square piece of balsa lashed to a hook, then a round one lashed to the hook, then one glued into a slot in the dowel , then the commercial ones. I use to cut a cylinder out of flip flops i found on the beach, they held up really well. Dave P wrote an article about using a dowel with a hole through it then tying on a hook with bucktail . so it fit inside the dowel. I still make a few of those and use them VanStaalSteve
