DAQ
Haha, I'm superstitious about hats so that one will probably be in my pictures until I have a bad day or two while wearing it. I wear buckets a lot to cover my ears from sun damage. My friends dad worked on a ship deck for years, had his ears whittled away bit by bit until he finally died of skin cancer. Always said it started on the tips of his ears and to make sure we covered them up. If the hat attracts fish then it doesn't matter how goofy I look. Only problem is, I'm getting messages from people saying they see me out there. The Riddler and klaney 2 Embrace American Privilege

The Riddler
2-4.....they fed from 7-8am and I never saw em again. I was way up a Western River. Water clear enough to see red blotches of chovies. Someone left a Shimano reel on a custom rod at the boat ramp. If its you or you know the person give me a PM. R.R. notime
Was out yesterday afternoon. Got into some fish. My friend caught his first Albie and then his second so good day. I got one as well. Feeding on tiny bait. Assume it was bay anchovies but none of them spit anything up. White Albie snax and silver epoxie worked best. Second Albie he brought to boat took less than 5 min. Not sure if it was caught earlier or what but did not put up a great fight. The Riddler

I have a theory that tunas (bluefin, bonito, albies, etc) have what I think of as a kind of “power bar” much like you would see in a sports video game. As the fish swim and avoid predators and chase prey, that “power bar” becomes depleted. When they feed efficiently, the “power bar” fills back up. if you hook an average albie with a full bar, your in for a good fight. If you hook one with a depleted bar you may be underwhelmed. Ive landed a larger albie (28” fork length) that came in relatively easily. 20 minutes later I hooked an average albie that took me to the cleaners on the same gear, same drag setting etc. You see this in giant BFT fishing too. Sometimes a 600 pounder takes 6+ hours to land while an 800+ pounder took under 2 hours MikeFlyGuy

Ive noticed a difference in how well they fight which seems to correlate with the depth of the water they are caught in. The shallower the water, the better the runs. I think in shallow water they just want to get out of Dodge where as in deeper water they will still have decent runs (but not as good or as long as they do when in the skinny stuff) before going to the rope a dope down low. Running Ape
I’m sur I’ve written this before but the one or two poor fighters I’ve caught had grey gills instead of bright red looked like they had been caught before.
WorcBoy
How do Albies react to rain? I'm off next Monday and the forecast is for rain. Going to fish a few shore spots. Thanks

Just didn't know if the rain will throw off their surface feeding and keep them off the beach. That's what I meant. If you’re seeing a lot of bait around your shore spot and have heard reports about them offshore of that specific area. I think that’s the most important.
