Hoping I get my boat back by the weekend with  a new Motor. That looks like a really bad skunk Fergal. With any luck the Albies get over to Orient Point soon. I am trying to hit the beaches of eastern LI sound every evening this week and it looks like there is tons of bait from jumbo anchovies to peanuts and needlefish... pray that no storms roll in in the next month and send everything on the run.

Flat calm, no clouds, and tiny bait. They were tough, but this thing put them in the boat.

Peach estaz? it seems to capture that color perfectly.

I heard that they were around today, where i was yesterday... I'm not able to get out until Tuesday at best.

That’s the stuff.

That rainbait, their colors are so subtle. Translucent, with shades of pink, orange, etc.

IMHO, that's the albies prime forage. They want those damn things more than anything else. I think that's the only reason that they come inshore.

Fly colors - what are people's opinions?... 99% percent of my **** is white, and only white. I've had some luck with tan and pink here and there but my box is filled with white.

This year, I have some chartreuse, some mainly pinks, and a few random colors. I think there's a 0.02% chance that I throw them though.

Pink over white or Pink over chartreuse over white have been my most successful patterns in the last 2 years. Sz 2-4

I've had the most luck with white or light pink.   I'm usually throwing Albie whores in those two colors.   Not sure if they are a lot better or it's just that I use them more often.   But if I had to go with one color it would be white.

In addition to pink albie whores, these have worked well so far this season for me.   For blitzing fish, anything the right length with enough flash to be noticed seems to work.  For sipping fish a subtler more natural anchovy fly (middle although a silver eye is preferred) is my go to.   Bottom fly just off the vise. I don’t fish with barbs.
