Hi all need some info for a Father’s Day gift in the lamiglas factory gsb the 1321m (called 111ms) vs the 1321os (111os) rod. Rod would be used for plugging the ccc, jetties and some beach fishing. Looking for which rod can do a little of everything, lures 1.5-4 and eels maybe 5oz on occasion. Wanted to know real lure ratings, better in the wind and true action ( consensus seems to be the os is more of an L) basically better ?

I own 2 1321m contemporary and 1 1321m newer os.

The os is definitely a hair crisper and favors slighly lower weights than the standard model. I can fish a 1 oz bucktail on either. If I were to pick based on your criteria, it would be the OS. That said I own 2 standard models for a reason. No matter the model, they are hands down the best fish fighting blanks. Flip a coin.

All that said, these are not contemporary blanks. They are not as sensitive, but in general I feel weight and sensitivity is overrated. Fish fighting and durability are the highlights of the gsb line.  You will drop fewer fish.

I have broken top end rods from CTS and Fiberstar....I have yet to break a gsb and I have most of the models.

If you end up liking the 1321, get the 1201L next, it is awesome for lighter bucktailing and sand beaches !

If L mean light action, the answer is no....and incorrect.

I fish my own plugs that are 5.5 -6oz.  I can fish them effectively on either blank... but if had option would use the standard model over the OS.  I would consider the difference subtle. To quantify, i would say the sweet spot load window might be a .5 oz difference.  This is not scientific but on the OS it might be 2.5 -3.5,  the standard might be 3.0 -4.0.  I definitely fish both down to 1.0 oz bucktailing and up to 6oz plugging which speaks to the practical range.

I have a 1321MH....which is much heavier. Great for casting my big 6  oz  plugs,  but not as good as the M for everything else....including fish fighting.

Thank you Puppet for all the good insight I appreciate it! The old man’s already got the 1321mh as well for the heavier lures, so I’m definitely looking to get the rod that can do a little of everything, closer to the original 1321m and hold up.
