A couple weeks ago my local MB had hardshells advertised at that price, and newshells at $7.99. I asked for newshells but the ones I got were solidly hardshell and full of meat. Yeah I wasnt complaining either! gray gables

Maybe a bump in price over the busier weekends, but its not uncommon for them to go down to $4.99/lb or so for newshells.

Highlander1
Better pricing than last season, paid more than that in September for soft shells, in Maine. $7.99 is doable. "Thats as big as a fish that size gets" - Russ WilsonRIP JM

rst3
Treated pops to a dinner of steamers, lobsters, and fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert. Lobsters from MB were ultra hard shell(two even had full grown barnacles), so def packed solid with meat. Flavor-wise, I find the old shelled bugs have a hint of muskyness that I'm not the biggest fan of..but still happily gobbled down a cpl 1 1/4s. Steamers were good. Strawberries from local farm were great. Edited June 19 by rst3 Fishing kills me exactly as it keeps me alive. Love the increased yield and the texture of hardshells, but can't beat the flavor of softshells, IMO. Plus, they can be easily shucked with your bare hands! rst3
