Dieseldog13
I will be fishing the lower CT River, the mouth and inshore for Stripers but know that some big Blues will be around. My main rod is 7’ mh. I will be throwing 1oz top water lures. Main line is 20 or 30 pound braid. I was thinking braid to swivel to 3’ of heavier mono or Fluorocarbon to Tactical Clip. Thoughts? What pound leader? Thanks. Surf bomber
Should work , a heavier leader may work better ….3ft leader on a 7 foot rod with a swivel … will the 3ft leader be to long and make casting awkward?

I use a 3' 40lb flouro leader tied to a barrel swivel on one end and a TAC on the other for most of my saltwater fishing. In the last 10 years I think I've had one bite off from a blue. sytheteacher
When Blues are around or when I'm targeting Blues I always use a wire leader with a strong clip to attach it to the lure and a swivel attaching the main line to the wire leader....

LockedDrag
50/60lb mono. 80 is really thick and difficult to tie knots. When the blues are that big, it doesn’t matter how heavy your leader is. It’s teeth touches it and that’s it lol thicker leaders also affect lure action and very significantly especially once you get past 50lb leader. I use 60lb big game
