Jim McFeeley
I would post this on nj. forum . They seem to use 7'6 - 8 ft medium rods. The one guy uses a battletec from savage gear. and a kastking baitrunner 3000 reel. Alot of things will work . I would use 15- 20 lb braid. Really if you want cheap the kastking stuff is decent. I got a telescopic rod from them and it's pretty nice for what it is. Edited June 7 by Jim McFeeley
bbfish
If you have any freshwater bass rods they would be perfect for fishing sand crabs.

Snuffy
My favorites are the 9 ft Ugly Sticks with the soft tips that are rated 1-3 oz. All I fish with are sand fleas. I was lucky & skilled enough to land a 40 lb cobia that measured 50 inches from the beach at Cape Hatteras this past week on a 9ft Ugly Stick with a Diawa 3500 BG spooled with 15 lb Sufix 832 braid on a 2 bottom sea mullet rig. It bit a sand flea that I was using to catch whiting with. You can see 3 different citation fish that I landed using this set up this past week at Red Drum Tackles Facebook page. Look for: Michael " Mullet Man" Creech IMG_20230602_194517_759.heic Popasilov and EricDice

Skolmann
I’ve been using an ODM DNA 7’6” Back Bay rod for fishing bugs in the surf.
