June 2023 Fishing Reports

Report as little or as much detail as you would like to provide the reader but please don't post specific street names or areas.

A specific spot is too much information!
It's not like telling a friend or two, posting it here is telling thousands. Doing so only creates crowds, garbage, and loss of our spots.

For example, you can say that you caught fish in Ocean County but saying that you got them at Ocean Beach is a no-no.

The terms to use are..........
Monmouth County
Ocean County
Atlantic County
Cape May County
North Jersey for the Hudson and other backwaters.

County name plus "In the back" for Inlets, Rivers, and Bays.

Try to keep other conversations, inquires, and rants in separate threads.

Beautiful AM. No wind initially building to a light N wind. End of incoming into the switch. Water remains warm but maybe a tad cooler this AM. Like @MC55 said, tons of bugs and nice surf. Managed 5 this AM with a bunch of pick up drops. Smaller class, 22”-27”. Hopefully that SE wind doesn’t affect the water temps too much. Won’t be able to get out later today unfortunately.

Great night out back in OC. Bass were happy to hit a small white spook. Once they moved on, the blues offered non-stop action until dead low hit.

This morning , same spot, some better sized fluke showing up as well. Fish were biting again. They were spitting up crabs and shirmp, but were taking gulps.

One of the greatest reports thread pic of all time.

The village, which had stood for maybe 1,000 years, didn't know we were coming that day. If they had, they would have run. boB was at the eye of our rage. And through him, our Captain Ahab. He would set things right again. That day, we loved him.

Managed to get out for an hour this afternoon- south wind and incoming tide not ideal for fly rod but managed two and missed a third- saw this dead one- about 33/34 inches- have no clue how it died- no hook or plug stuck down gullet/ fresh also other then seagulls picking at eye- tossed it back into ocean- rather crabs and bluefish eat it then seagulls.

A buddy of mine tied me up some sand flea jigs last year…. Haven’t had any luck with them yet. Wondering if anyone has any advice on how to properly use them… doesn’t seem natural to cast them out and retrieve them back to the beach…. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated…

Get up on a jetty about half way out, cast towards the beach and let them drift out on either side.  Reel just fast enough to pick up slack.
